Fire Station: Artist in Residence

The Fire Station: Artist in Residence program is a nine (9) month residency from September to June of each year.
Selected artists are provided with:
• Studio space available 24/7
• Access to the wood workshop and fabrication lab support
• Mentorship and critiques throughout the program duration
• Media and social media coverage
• Networking opportunities and interactive sessions with artists and guest artists
• Open Studio Nights
• End of program exhibition at the Garage Gallery
• Monthly per diem

Who Should Apply

The program is open to all artistic practices including but not limited to performance, multimedia, visual artists, musicians, writers, and also curatorial.

Objective and Expectations

The residency provides an opportunity for artists in Qatar to develop their art practices and provides a platform to showcase their works to the world through media coverage, open studio nights, and a large exhibition at the end of the residency.
Artists are expected to be involved with the activities of the program
including: networking sessions and collaborating with other artists, meetings with mentors, attending monthly talks and events, workshops, and engage in community projects.
Artists are expected to put the time to reflect and investigate their own practices and the proposed project, which they will exhibit at the end of the program.

Selection Process

Artists must apply online via the ApplicationForm  once submissions are open. The open call is open from the 1st of February of each year and closes on 1st of April.
An esteemed panel of judges will assess applications and select artists to be enrolled in the program. Click
